We need to learn again to give thanks to God. To give thanks for everything. To give thanks always.
Lately after coming back home from a few days trip I found myself a bit stressed out, tired and confused. Not all our relationships and ideas work out. Not all people understand us. Not all friends are able to encourage us when we expect them to. Not every day our health condition is well enough to deal with pain. Not every good memory takes good feelings back.
As we live in a century of “I wish a better…” we keep wishing for the more & more, better & best, so we forget to give thanks to God for all great, but simple, things we already have. Fancy apartments, expensive stuff, newest cars and handsome people. We watch movies about that, read magazines and dream about that. But do we give thanks to God for an old bath tube and hot water to take a bath in a country where is war right now? Do we give thanks to God for closest friend to question us? Do we give thanks to God for one more day that our friend or family member is alive?.. Do we give thanks to God for being able to read the Bible in any language and translation we only wish while 775 million people in the world are illiterate [think about it: they can’t read…]? Do we give thanks to God for a freedom we have after Soviet Union collapse? Do we give thanks to God for the possibility to vote? Do we give thanks to God for everything? Or do we complain about things we lack? Do we enjoy people & things we already have? Or do we want a better this and better that?
While coming to the middle of the bridge for some reflections in my life I give thanks to God for His salvation & His presence in my life and taking all stress away. Always in needed time. Let me learn again to give thanks to God always.
